Syamsul Arifin

About me

My full name is Syamsul Arifin it was taken from Arabic that mean's "knowledge sun". My friend's usually call me ipin. I was born at Tegal, Central Java on February 6, 1983, that mean I'm 21 year old now (quite old enough, isn't?, he3x). I (still) live with my parent's at North Gandaria, Jakarta Indonesia.

My father is an elementary school teacher nearby our house, while my mother doesn't work she's taking care of her children. My older sister is married, she got cute 8 month baby, my younger brother is at 46 senior high school at 3rd grade (or 12th grade), the younger sister is still at 13 junior high school at 2nd grade (or 8th grade). Me, my self is on a study at faculty of public health university of Indonesia majoring occupational safety and health. I'm on my last year now, so I'm trying to focusing on my study.

My father is a government employee or to be more specific is an elementary schoolteacher, while my mother doesn’t work she’s just became a house hold wife.

I feel very lucky to have a father like mine. He’s so moderate, not like the other father in my neighbors who’s very conservative and doesn’t have a clear point of view. In my village at Tegal in central java, my father maybe is the only person who’s well educated and knows the importance of education. When my father is a child, when the other kids are dropping out the school my father is enthusiast to follow and continue his study even though with less support from his family.

So I feel very graceful to have a father who have a wise though, clear point of view, who thinks far beyond, and support his child education even though with a minim resource.

Now I’m studying at UI, university of Indonesia, the most credible university at Indonesia. There’s so much knowledge, experience, and lesson that I absorb here. The knowledge I get is not only from the college chair but also from its activity that took an event in UI. UI as the leader for any of student activity in Indonesia is the best place to study. I took public health faculty (FKM or fakultas kesehatan masyarakat; in Indonesian word) majoring occupational safety and health (K3 or kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja). I'm at my last year now.

In my first year entering FKM UI, I join Bursa Buku FKM UI, a student cooperation unit that has tough me about entrepreneurship. In my second year in college I join BEM UI (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa or Student Executive Chamber) in kreasi mahasiswa (student creation department). In BEM UI, I learn about organization, leadership, teamwork, directing, and activating a team. I own much to my chief of student creation department that have guide and teach me in one of the biggest student movement organization in Indonesia.

In my third year in FKM, I join BSO Nurani (Nuansa Persaudaraan Islam), an Islamic organization, I’m focusing my activity at faculty level not university to easier my movement.

If talking about an event that I join, numbers of event I’ve been follow, like social activity (helping other's who needed, held a motivating training) I like to help another especially in motivating another, because we don't  maybe she/he going to be a successful person, and I would feel be satisfied because our true success is when we can make other's around us succeed.

But now in my last year, I just want to concentrate on my study, so I can get a good mark.

I don't have a particular hobby, but I do like: computer, internet, discussion, reading ( I like to read DR Yusuf Qardhawi book's, prophet Muhammad biography, mind mapping, accelerated learning, quantum learning, multiple intelligent, self management, computer, and internet. Book's that can upgrade my skill and knowledge), writing, and doing contemplation. I was liking korn, linkin park, mariah carey, and n'sync group but now I prefer nasyid like justice voice, shoutul harokah, suara persaudaraan, harmony voice, etc. I like watching cosby show, hey arnold (nickelodeon), mtv flipped, baby loony, animal planet, and national geographic (show that can give me benefit).
